The end of the calendar year brings family, travel, and performance evaluations. A big part of mine is training and tech development. It’s never too soon to start thinking about what is new and where your are interested in strengthening your skill.
I asked some tech experts what skills are the stuff to learn for 2017. Keith Townsend @ctoadvisor responded with
Scripting (ie Cloud Formation, Powershell, Python)
Hybrid infrastructure networking (AWS VPC>VPN integration)
These skills will help you today and get you ready for your next career move!
Thanks Keith for your response.
If you’re working in tech at all you can get a lot out of developing PowerShell skills. Cloud networking is helpful for a move to AWS or just to better understand VMware networking.
It’s also important to strengthen your existing skills. If you work with VMware read into 6 or 6.5. Take a new VCP if you’re interested.
I would like to offer free mentoring to anyone interested. If you need help deciding, developing good study “hygiene”, or have questions about VCP/VCAP please let me know. I’ve helped mentor a few people into VCAPs and would love to help you!
